Our daughter, Diana, got a job working in
the admitting office of the emergency room of the hospital where Rosalie
was working. One Spring Saturday, Diana and Rosalie were up early and
about ready to leave for work. I was still in bed drinking the cup of
coffee one of them had brought me. I was propped up in bed with an elbow
on one raised knee.
Feeling somewhat full of myself and a little cocky that I did not have
to go to work on Saturday I casually called both of them to the side of
my bed. Taking a sip of my coffee, I smiled at them saying, "I am so
proud of both of you. There you stand, bright-eyed and wide-awake so
early in the morning. You both look so pretty in your white medical
coats. You are going out now to be real blessings to people in need. You
go now and work hard and do your best. Bring the money you make home to
me, and don't forget that I will be right here waiting for you when you
finish work. And as you go, just remember, this is the way God intended
it to be!"
They stormed out of the house with a variety of comments and left me
with my coffee. That afternoon I had a nice meal ready for all of us to
sit down to when
they returned from work. We enjoyed the meal and visited a while at the
table.
I took the dishes to the sink and began to wash them as Diana and
Rosalie began walking up the stairs with the paper and a book. I said, " I
cooked a good meal and had it ready when you came home. Aren't you going
to help with the dishes?"
Rosalie turned and said, "No Danny, THIS is the way God intended it to
be!" |
