Aunt Minnie and Uncle Ashley were
considerably beyond their three-score-and ten years. They didn't sleep
together if they could avoid it, but with a house full of company, Aunt
Minnie and Uncle Ashley ended up in bed together. They tossed and turned
for quite a while without saying a word. Finally, there was a period of
stillness before Uncle Ashley turned over again in bed. His hand touched
Aunt Minnie in a kind of tender place, causing her to jump with a start, "Oh, Ashley, you scared me!" They lay still for a little while. Then
Aunt Minnie said in a softer voice, "Ashley! Scare me again." |
